“ Tried this place for the first time with son's girlfriend who was born in Japan. Wanted some authentic food. Really nice atmosphere, service excellent. Skewers were the main dishes, chicken, short rib, tofu, and beef stew. Very tasty. Recommend although a bit on pricey side as dishes add up. ”
“ Perfectly grilled skewers at great prices. Went in on a Thursday right at opening and was sat at the bar. My friend and I shared a variety of different skewers and some sides. I highly recommend the beef tongue, chicken gizzard, beef short rib and chicken liver skewers. Everything was cooked to perfection, you can see them being made right in front of you. Friendly staff as well, very home-y feeling in the interior. Definitely come check it out if you're up for delicious yakitori and beer. ”
“ This place is too bomb! I've eaten here several times and had great experience. Perfect for late night catching up with someone. I suggest making reservations in case they are busy since the space is on the smaller side. The food does take a while to come out, but it's delicious. Service was a bit slow despite it not being busy, but our servers were super nice and accommodating to our requests. ”
“ Back for another anniversary dinner and still amazing !! Quality is always consistent and delicious. We ordered our regulars: takowasa, beef tongue, short rib, pork belly, karaage, and beef bowl. We tried the chicken thigh this time which was okay. But the pork belly today was definitely our favorite ! Everything is great with a cold asahi beer. We made a reservation a week in advance and was seated right away. Service is always amazing ! ”

“ Wow!! One of my favorite restaurants in SD I've been to so far. We called ahead to make a reservation for 5:30p on a Friday and didn't have to wait when we got there. The ambiance reminded me of restaurants in Japan and staff was very friendly. Chicken udon was the epitome of comfort food and the different kinds of yakitori we ordered were expertly grilled. They have a specials menu that changes so you can look on their instagram for the most updated info. Highly highly recommend! ”

“ Everything tasted amazing! Some of my favorite skewers were the beef tongue, rolled pork with shiso, chicken with mayo shrimp sauce, chicken gizzard, chicken liver, & chicken heart. My least favorite were the chicken with wassabi (this was literally just wassabi smeared on top of chicken) & the chicken with plum sauce (was kind of basic), would probably skip these next time. In addition to the skewers, we also ordered the torisenbei (similar to a chicken chicharron) & the nikomi (Japanese stew with vegetables & meat). Both were delicious as well. Each skewer was about $3-$10, it definitely adds up & you won't realize this while ordering. For the 13 skewers, 1 soup, & an appetizer, we paid about $93 (& this was for 2 people). Overall, I would come again when I'm in the mood for yakitori! ”
“ This Yakitori restaurant is a staple in the Convoy Asian District. It's been here for a long time and has not let up since! The food is always good! There's all the skewers... curry rice, bar eats and appetizers. Every time we're here it feels like you're in a real Japanese Izakaya. It's bustling and people are having fun enjoying their meal and their company. Great place to have a simple bite or to hang out with friends! Reservations are strongly suggested! It gets busy even on weeknights! ”
“ I've heard a lot about Yokohama and was happy that we were able to snag a couple counter seats on a Friday afternoon! We came right around 5 before it got too busy and were excited to look through their menu. We ended up ordering several appetizers - fried cheese wonton, karaage, takoyaki, and ended up getting two beef tongue, short rib, and pork belly skewers! The food came out quickly and we really enjoyed all our bites. The cheese wonton was so fun and the cheese had a great cheese pull!! The beef tongue skewers were our favorite of the 3!! The service was friendly and the vibes were so great. Looking forward to coming back again. ”
